ABSTRACT SKETCH is a project Xinyi experimented from 2018 to 2019 in ECAL.
Everything comes from her great interest in Chinese brush painting and Calligraphy.
Xinyi first started to sketch abstract furnitures pieces that she had in her mind with skills of brush painting and calligraphy. While trying to realizing them in 3D pieces, she found it really difficult. Then she turned to start from the “very beginning”, sketch daily objects with brushes. During this period, she gradually found how to realize different textures, shape, surfaces through using brushes and Chinese ink.
